With rock power chords, you only have two notes that you really play, and you usually play these in the neck in the barre chord positions.

Barre chords, everyone say?

Well, chords can be played along the entire electric guitar neck. Depending on the guitar chord you need to play, you may need to set your index finger across all five or six strings to finger the correct notes. Your index finger is the "barre", simulating the guitar nut (the notched component the location where the strings lay) at the top of the neck.

By means of power chords, you don't have to do the complete fingering of that chord. As I mentioned, you play the first several notes of the barre chord and not having to press all the strings with the index finger.

Let's take a look at an example:

An A leading barre chord is played just by barring all six strings with all your index finger at the 5th fret. You then put your middle finger on the G string (third) within the sixth fret. Now you're likely to press your ring finger in the fifth string (A)and your pinky on the fourth string (D), both in the seventh fret.

This will be tough if you're new so that you can guitar playing. Your fingers aren't strong adequate to press the strings down and find a good sound. So play rock power chords!

The A5 power chord is easy. Just use your index finger pressing the E string (sixth) at the fifth fret (the An email) and your ring finger on the A string (fifth) at the seventh fret (the Orite note). Crank your distortion and provide it a strum.
